The Robertshaw 3030-129 Cold Control operates as a temperature-sensitive switch that serves refrigeration appliances such as refrigerators and freezers for HVAC systems. The 18" capillary tube inside the appliance allows the control to detect internal temperatures. The temperature control activates the compressor through circuit completion when the unit reaches temperatures above its set point. When the set temperature is achieved the control device stops the circuit to shut off the compressor. The continuous cycling process keeps the internal temperature within a particular range.
