The Trane COM11220 Scroll Compressor is of high commercial current that offers a substantial cooling of commercial and industrial structures using R-22 refrigerant. This Trane compressor does not use the piston mechanism that is commonly used in other conventional compressors. In the sealed housing, two meshing scrolls acting like a pump compress the refrigerant gas at 2900 RPM. This design equates to a massive 5.67-ton capacity (68,000 BTUH) that can handle serious cooling loads even in low ambient temperatures of 45°F. Brazed stub tubes (discharge size ½”) are used for the circulation of refrigerant with leak proof joints.
