The York S1-024-36052-015 Rise Pressure Switch is a safety part used to prevent low pressure within the HVAC system. It’s a SPNC switch as the name implies, it is usually in a closed position but opens when pressure increases beyond a certain level. In this case, the pressure rating is 0.70” water column meaning that the switch will open at this pressure level. This pressure switch works on a basic mechanism. In it there is an element called a diaphragm that can opens and close in response to pressure differences. When the system pressure increases and goes beyond the 0.70” WC set point, the diaphragm moves and operates a linkage that opens the switch contacts.
