The Trane VAL2372 Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) is an essentialpart of your Trane air conditioning system, While other valves are simply on/off, the TXV performs a essentialfunction in the cooling process and in protecting the system. With a thermal sensor bulb that is connected by a long, thin capillary tube, the TXV then regulates the amount of refrigerant that goes into the evaporator coil depending on the temperature. It has a sweat connection valve and is constructed from stainless steel for R-22 refrigerant service. It also provides a bleed port function which assists in controlling pressure during shutdown of the system. The Trane TXV is usually used in air conditioners of 3-ton capacity.
