The Trane VAL3822 Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) is one component of the Trane air conditioning system that is critical to proper operation, Unlike simple on/off valves the TXV is a critical component in the cooling process. In the TXV, a thermal sensor bulb is attached to a long and thin capillary tube (30” for the VAL3822) through which the refrigerant flowing into the evaporator coil is regulated depending on its temperature. This makes certain the coil holds heat effectively but it does not freeze up which results in malfunctions and deterioration of your system. Made out of stainless steel it is compatible with R-22 refrigerant and can handle up to 500 PSI.
