The Carrier 38CQ660029 is a defrost relay, an essential part of HVAC equipment, including heat pumps. During defrosting the relay is essential to switch off the compressor and switch on the defrost heater. The melted ice drains away and it melts ice that has collected on the coil of the outdoor unit.
