The Carrier P031-2429 is a single-phase reciprocating compressor manufactured and used in residential and light commercial air conditioning and heating applications. Moving refrigerant is the major responsibility of the media compressor. When the refrigerant gas is compressed, its pressure and its temperature also rise. It then enters the condenser coil where the heat in this hot high-pressure gas is released to the enclosing air. The low-pressure cooled refrigerant then flows to the evaporator coil that warms up drawing heat from the room thus cooling. This specific Carrier compressor is better for systems with a 24,000 BTU cooling capability.
