The Trane CTR2589 is a small and efficient 2-pole contactor used in many Trane HVAC applications. It dimensions are 3.26 x 2.43 x 2.07 inches, which makes it a convenient solution for regulating electrical parts. This contactor is like a large switch and uses one electromagnet to open and close two groups of contacts (NO or Normally Open). In layman’s terms, when energized, the magnet causes the core to attract and permit current flow through the connected load such as a heating element or motor up to 30 Amps. On the other hand when its magnetizing force is switched off the magnet itself drops, and breaks the circuit.
