The Trane VAL19484 HXCE Valve is a Thermal expansion valve used in HVAC equipment, such as air conditioners and heat pumps. The TEV receives refrigerant as a high-pressure liquid. If the liquid refrigerant travels through a little hole in the valve, its pressure decreases and some as the liquid refrigerant vaporizes. Though it absorbs heat, as well, it does so and also adds to the cooling impact. The TEV continuously monitors temperature of the refrigerant that exits the evaporator coil. The orifice opening is varied to ensure ideal cooling performance and economical use of refrigerant, By changing the amount refrigerant that enters the evaporator.
