The Trane SFIGN-1R Hot Surface Igniter Universal Kit is designed for ignition of gas-fired HVAC equipment, mainly including furnaces and boilers. This kit consists of a hot surface igniter, which is a significant component that replaces spark igniters. In terms of its operation, it is designed-to heat-up quickly when an electric current is passed through it to a temperature that ignites the gas in the burner. This does away with the constant use of pilot light hence increasing the energy efficiency. Advantages are that it is designed to fit many models and therefore, there is no need for many igniters to be produced.
