Trane SEN1985 Optical Liquid Level Sensor

The Trane SEN1985 is an Optical Liquid Level Sensor used for accurate fluid identification in HVAC systems. When the sensor tip is dry the Infrared light bounces back to the phototransistor, indicating that the liquid level is low. On the other hand, when the tip is immersed in liquid the light refracts in the liquid making less light reach the phototransistor meaning a high level of liquid. This dependable optical system has no moving components to become damaged mechanically, enhancing the long-term performance compared to float switches. It has been found that the use of this has advantages such as Improved level identification, enhanced system efficiency and durability, and lower maintenance requirements.
