The Copeland RST80C1-PFV-901 is a 1.5 horsepower, single-phase compressor designed for use in residential and commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems. It operates on 208/230 volt lines and utilizes R22 refrigerant. This compressor is the heart of the cooling system, circulating refrigerant throughout a closed loop. As the refrigerant travels, it absorbs heat from the warm area (indoors) and releases it to the cooler area (outdoors). The compressor takes low-pressure, cool refrigerant and compresses it, raising the temperature and pressure. This hot, high-pressure gas then travels to the condenser coil where it releases heat to the surrounding air. The cooled, high-pressure liquid refrigerant then travels to the expansion valve, where its pressure is reduced, causing it to turn into a cold gas/liquid mixture. This cool mixture travels to the evaporator coil where it absorbs heat from the indoor air.
