The Trane MOT9255 is a high-efficiency small motor 1HP ECM (Electronically commutated motor) for many HVAC applications. ECM motors are different from other AC motors in that they are controlled through electronics for speed and operation. This is equivalent to several benefits. Some motors do not use brushes; the magnets within the motor remain fixed to deprive it of brushes which causes friction and wears out regularly. Also, it can operate at variable speed due to the use of electronic controls. The motor can also vary its speed depending on the required amount of airflow while at the same time cutting costs.
