The Trane MOT9235 ECM Motor Module is a part of selected HVAC systems. It swaps a conventional PSC motor with an ECM module. ECM motors are far superior to PSC motors in many ways. They use electronics to effectively control the speed and the torque of a motor. This enables the motor to vary its speed depending on the current flow rate demand thus making it more efficient than PSC motors. Also, ECM motors are relatively quieter than PAM motors because they don’t need to run at high speeds most of the time.
