The Trane MOT11255 is a ½-horsepower electronically commutated motor used in Trane HVAC equipment including furnaces, air handlers, and rooftop units. ECM motors are unlike other AC motors where the speed is rigid and cannot be changed as is the case with the new electronics used on the motor. The Trane MOT11255 can control the airflow to be exactly proportional to the demand, which means that the energy consumption is lower than in AC motors. ECM motors are also less noisy because they are smooth-running and variable-speed motors.
