The Carrier HH12HA163 is a Limit Switch, a type which is manually reset, essentially a safety feature for use in carrier HVAC products including furnaces and air handlers. This element provides a check to the circuit by breaking the circuit when temperatures get beyond a given point. In this case, the HH12HA163 is set to trip at 160°F (71°C), to prevent the system from getting over-heated and damaging internal components.
