The Nordyne 917169C 15kW Heat Strip is a high auxiliary heating component made to augment heat in HVAC systems like air handlers and furnaces. It becomes handy in winter when there are high temperatures or when there’s a failure of the main heater sources to meet demands. The heat strip usually has an element that converts electricity to thermal energy through which it works. When turned on, the heat strip heats up and this enables the surrounding air to be warmed as it passes over it. This warm air is circulated around the space releasing more warmth into it. Typically, 15 kilowatts rating of this heating strip significantly increases total heat output from a system.
