Spirax-Sarco 54529C 3/8" Thermodynamic Steam Trap TD52

The Spirax-Sarco 54529C Td52-3/8-inch thermodynamic trap is an automatic device for removing condensate from steam systems. This works by utilizing the temperature difference between steam and condensate. Condensate can drain because steam keeps the trap disc open because it is hotter than condensate. The disk closes, halting the steam flow and capturing the condensate as cooler condensate fills the trap. Thereafter, a low-pressure area forms beneath the disc as the trapped condensate cools and condenses into water. The disc is forced back up by the low pressure and the pressure of the entering steam, which opens the trap and restarts the cycle. This trap is perfect for boilers, radiators, heat exchangers, and drip lines, among other HVAC equipment that uses steam.
