The Trane COM8148 Compressor is a heavy-duty one meant for moderate cooling loads in commercial and industrial applications but comes with an R-22 refrigerant. This is a compressor and it is not like the piston compressor; instead, it uses a scroll to compress the refrigerant. The two scrolls, linked in a helical pattern, operate at 1750 RPM within the enclosed housing to compress the gas. This design equates to 2.8 tons (approximately 33,600 BTUH), which is sufficient to manage heavy cooling loads in warmer climates, but not in cooler climates that start at 45°F. Rotolock connections provide leak-free refrigerant circulation because of their secure connections.
