The Rheem-Ruud 51-104304-19 is a 1/2 HP (ECM) blower motor for use in forced-air heating and cooling systems or HVAC systems as they are commonly called. The blower motor is the device that draws the air from the return vents, passes it over the furnace or air conditioner heat exchanger and then distributes it through the supply vents. The conventional blower motors incorporate an AC induction motor that has lower efficiency as well as higher noise levels as compared to the ECM motor. The Rheem-Ruud ECM blower motor has a permanent magnet, and the motor is controlled by a computer chip, ECM motors are more energy efficient than AC motors.
