The Trane VAL20695 Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV) is a refrigerant metering part that is used to control the amount of liquid refrigerant entering the evaporator part of cooling equipment. The temperature sensor is used to check the evaporator outlet and to regulate the internal valve opening to regulate the flow of refrigerant through the metering passage utilized in HVAC systems. The valve links the liquid line and evaporator inlet in the refrigerant loop, which forces the refrigerant into the coil to be evaporated and absorb heat.
