Trane RLY3715 SPST Start Relay can be used in many types of HVAC equipment that is, for example, air conditioners, heat pumps, or chillers. The objective of this relay is to take a high current path to allow the initial surge of electricity that is needed to overcome the inertia to start the compressor motor. When an armature is drawn to the magnetic field produced by an energized coil, the relay contacts close. The high starting current flows then through the compressor motor, facilitating a smooth start.
