The Trane MOT18831 is a single-phase capacitor-start induction motor which is used inHVAC equipment. Induction motors make use of a rotating magnetic field which generates an electric current within the rotor cage to thereby develop a torque which causes the motor to commence rotation. Motors used in HVAC applications are particularly suitable for this type of application because they are stable, long-lived, and uncomplicated in construction.
