Tecumseh K71-108 Start Relay

The Tecumseh K71-108 Start Relay energizes the start winding of a single-phase compressor motor during the initial startup sequence, providing the additional torque needed to bring the compressor from rest to full operating speed. A current-sensitive coil responds to the high inrush current drawn at startup by closing the relay contact, engaging the start winding momentarily before dropping out once the motor reaches running speed in HVAC systems. Seated on the compressor terminal pins of hermetic and semi-hermetic compressors within refrigeration and air conditioning systems, it plugs directly into the terminal block without requiring additional wiring or mounting hardware.
