The Xylem-Hoffman Specialty 404216, also known as the Ft125H-4, is a 1-inch, 125# trap built exclusively for steam systems. By collecting and eliminating condensate, or liquid water, produced as a result of variations in steam temperature, it serves as an essential safety and efficiency component. The self-contained bucket and float mechanism of the trap allow it to automatically release accumulated condensate when a predetermined level is reached. Water hammer, a phenomenon where abrupt pressure changes in pipes generate damaging shockwaves, can be brought on by accumulated condensate. Condensate is removed by the trap, which shields pipes from damaging water contact and lowers the possibility of corrosion.
