The Amana-Goodman B1370819 Door Switch interrupts the flow of electrical power when an access panel or service is opened to ensure that the system does not operate with the inner parts visible. It is a mechanical switch, and as the door is moved, it changes state such that its contact is opened to allow the flow of power. This door switch is mounted either in the furnace frame, air handler frame, or equipment access panel frame and connected to the control circuit to add to the operation of the equipment.
