The Trane COM11206 Scroll Compressor is a robust compressor suited to medium-sized residential and light commercial air conditioning. A strong, compact, and incorporating (hermetic) built of cast iron with sturdy brazed stub tubes for refrigerant circulation. This was a Trane model that was not a piston compressor but used a scroll to work effectively for the intended purpose. In the closed casing, two intertwined spirals act as a turbo pump, compressing the refrigerant gas. This design was equivalent to 2.7 tons or 32,400 BTUH and was suitable for handling moderate cooling loads in houses or small structures.
