The BASO GAS PRODUCTS K16FA-36H Thermocouple operates as an essential safety system that protects gas-fired HVAC equipment including furnaces and water heaters. This safety system operates through screw terminal connections on its 36" length sense pilot flame presence. The thermocouple tip produces small voltage after the flame heats it. The generated voltage keeps the gas valve open to enable main burner operation. The thermocouple cools down when the pilot flame goes out which causes the voltage to decrease and the gas valve to shut off to prevent dangerous gas leaks.
