The Copeland 9RB1-076A-TFC-800 Hermetic compressor is a heavy-duty designed for commercial refrigeration systems. Hermetic means that the motor and compressor are enclosed in a single casing that is charged with refrigerant thus minimizing on leakage and frequent servicing as compared to non-hermetic ones. This compressor draws low pressure refrigerant gas, compresses it and expels it at high pressure. The hermetic compressor can provide maximum cooling capacities of up to 47,600 BTUs, which is why it is used in larger refrigeration systems like walk-in coolers and freezers. It should be noted though that R-12 refrigerant was popular in the past but nowadays hardly employed due to environmental regulations.
