The Emerson conditions-White Rodgers 789A-820 Nitride Igniter is a high-purity silicon nitride-based ignition system component used in many HVAC systems including gas-fired furnaces, boilers, and water heaters. This ignitor works at 120V and has silicon nitride material which is more durable and thermally stable than silicon carbide ignitors. The ignitor operates by Joule heating in which the electrical current flows through the resistive component making it hot enough to ignite the gas-air mixture in the burner. The major advantage of this model is durability silicon nitride ignitors are longer than carbide ignitors and this model will reduce the cost of maintenance and replacement.
