The Emerson conditions-White Rodgers 767A-384 Hot Surface Ignitor has used part designed for gas-fired heating parts like furnaces, boilers, water heaters, etc. This ignitor is composed of silicon carbide and works through the heating of the electrical energy to temperatures of between 580 and 760°C. When the HVAC system is on heat, an current is passed through the ignitor and the ignitor glows and ignites the gas as it flows into the burner assembly. This method of ignition is both very effective and also removes the need for more conventional pilot lights, making this solution safer and more dependable.
