The Rheem-Ruud 61-102211-25 Expansion Valve is an accurate control device used in HVAC systems to control the refrigerant charge. This 5-ton expansion valve is of 3/8” size and is suitable for R-22 refrigerant It has an element tube length of 30” and an equalizer tube length of 7-1/4”. The external equalizer connection is of 1/8” sweat O.D. The expansion valve functions as a measuring device in that it regulates the refrigerant flow to the evaporator for cooling purposes. It ensures that pressure and temperature are kept at the right level in order to prevent the evaporator from freezing.
