The Trane VAL8611 is a Thermal Expansion Valve for use in older R-22 refrigerant-based HVAC systems. It is 6.3” long. However, R-22 is no longer made due to environmental concerns, but this TXV can help current systems run more efficiently. In 3.5-ton systems, it is critical to improve cooling performance and protect the compressor. The Trane constructed of durable brass with sweat connections 5/8" inlet, and an outlet for a tight installation, is a thermal actuator that senses temperature changes in the evaporator coil. With this information, the valve controls the precise amount of R, 22 refrigerant that enters the coil.
