Trane’s COM8847 Scroll Compressor is a heavy-hitter, capable of driving substantial cooling in commercial-industrial applications with natural R-410A refrigerant. A strong, compact machine (hermetic) made of cast iron. Unlike conventional piston-type compressors, this Trane compressor is designed to use scroll for its operation. Inside the sealed housing, two meshing scrolls operate to condense refrigerant gas and build high pressure at a moderate speed of 1750 RPM. This efficient design results in a 6.9-ton or 83,000 BTUH capability to handle large cooling loads, even in high ambient temperatures of up to 54.4°C
