The Carrier HT32TC743 is a crankcase heater used in protecting the compressor in Carrier HVAC systems. Unlike most heaters, this model is a long. Crankcase heaters are required during off-cycles, that is, when the compressor is not in operation. During this time crankcase oil may cool and the refrigerant will condense and circulate with the oil. This decreases the efficiency of the oil to lubricate the compressor and hence have negative implication. The HT32TC743 heater effectively addresses this problem by producing 40 watts of power at 480 volts. This retains the crankcase oil at an optimum temperature thus denying refrigerant circulation while simultaneously allowing full lubrication around the system.
