The Supco SHP400200 High Pressure Switch is a control component used to monitor refrigerant discharge pressure in cooling, and refrigeration circuits. It is designed to open the electrical control circuit when system pressure rises beyond a preset threshold of about 400 PSI and reset when pressure drops near 200 PSI to protect compressors from overload conditions caused by blocked airflow and overcharging. It is installed on the high-pressure line of air conditioning and refrigeration units, where it interfaces with the control wiring of the condensing HVAC systems units. It operates shutting off compressor activity under unusual pressure conditions and allowing regular cycling when pressures return to normal values.
