The Trane SWT1429 is a 3-prong primary high-limit switch, it is a safety part essentialfor your Trane HVAC. In normal working conditions, the switch remains in its non-operational state. However, if the furnace or air conditioner gets hot enough to become dangerous, usually at around 175 degrees Fahrenheit, the SWT1429 comes into play. It works like a switch that breaks the circuit and so halts the heating process. As a primary limit switch, it probably serves as the first layer of protection against over heating. After a while, the temperature comes down and the SWT1429 normally resets and the system can continue to function.
