The NAVIEN TANKLESS WATER HEATERS 30022787A Flame Rod NPN is a combustion monitoring part, which is used to detect presence of flame in the burner of gas-fired water heating systems. A sensing rod is a conductive part placed inside the flame of a burner which produces a small electrical signal by flame rectification, which can be used by the control circuit to ensure that ignition and continued combustion occur in HVAC systems. The rod is linked to the system control board by an electrical lead which carries the flame detection signal.
