The Trane COM11213 Scroll Compressor is a robust compressor for serious cooling in large residential and light commercial buildings but comes with an R-22 refrigerant. Two scrolls that are in contact with each other and are arranged in a mutually perpendicular plane operate in the sealed housing and compress the refrigerant gas at a relatively low speed. This translates to a lifting capacity of 3.9 tons or roughly 48,000 BTUH making this design perfect for handling large loads of cooling. Brazed stub tubes provide a leak-tight path for refrigerant flow.
