The Carrier P031-0722 is a replacement compressor that is designed for Carrier HVAC equipment, especially air conditioners. The cooling system at the core of an AC unit has a rotating compressor that pumps refrigerant in circuits around the system. Regard it as a pump that constantly puts pressure on the refrigerant. In operation, the compressor draws low-pressure cool refrigerant vapor from the evaporator coil. The vapor is then condensed and compressed greatly increasing the pressure and temperature as well. It is designed for use with R22 refrigerant and operates on a single-phase voltage of between 208-230 VAC. It is constructed with heavy-duty materials and encompasses mineral oil for its operation.
