The Amana-Goodman 20464901DF Drain Pan Evaporator Coil is in the HVAC system including air conditioner and heat pumps. The coil of tubing contains refrigerant, flowing through which absorbs the heat of the air indoors. The refrigerant evaporates absorbing heat, taking the heat out of the air. It collects the condensate that forms during the cooling process, in the drain pan a shallow pool formed at the bottom of the coil. Without this drain pan, water will damage the unit and the surrounding area. This evaporator coil reduces energy cost by relocating heat to the cooler outside air and, with its condensate management, allows for the highest possible cooling performance as well as the indoor air quality.
