Trane COM1600 Compressor 200-230V 3-Phase 4.4Ton

The Trane COM1600 Scroll Compressor, while not a current model, was a heavy duty compressor meant for cooling large residential. Unlike a piston type of compressor, this Trane model used scroll for its efficiency in operation. In the fully enclosed casing, there are two intertwined scrolls which work as a fast-moving pump to compress the refrigerant gas. This design resulted in a 4.4-ton capacity which was more appropriate for handling heavy cooling loads in structures. The Trane COM1600 used R-22 refrigerant, which has options that are increasingly becoming environmentally limited. Compressing this refrigerant with the help of the compressor started the basic heat exchange cycle in Trane HVAC system.
