The Carrier 38AK500410 is a control suction line accumulator which is one of the essential components of the commercial air conditioning systems which use refrigerant. It protects the system from contaminants such as gas and debris while at the same time storing the liquid refrigerant. During its flow in the suction line, refrigerant vapor gets condensed and collects moisture and contaminants. The accumulator has a higher volume to let the vapor to decelerate and give the liquid refrigerant to settle at the base. Another barrier is a baffle or a mesh screen inside the accumulator that serves to separate liquid refrigerant from unwanted components. This clean separated liquid refrigerant is then drawn into the compressor for efficient operation of the unit.
