The Tecumseh AE1023E-212-J7 is a single-phase, 115-volt compressor designed for use in a variety of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This workhorse effectively creates the compression cycle that powers the heating and cooling processes by pumping refrigerant in this example, R134a  through a closed-loop system. Cool, low-pressure refrigerant gas is drawn in by the compressor while it is operating. This gas, which is hot and under high pressure, moves to the condenser coil and changes back into a liquid by releasing heat into the surrounding air. Before reaching the evaporator coil, the cooled liquid refrigerant passes via the expansion valve, which lowers its temperature and pressure.
