The Sporlan Controls 903084 is a 1/2-inch Outside Diameter Female (ODF) head pressure control valve that is specifically developed for commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems. It serves as an essential safety measure, controlling the head pressure, that is, the pressure on the compressor's discharge side to preserve system efficiency and avert possible harm. A sensor that continuously measures the head pressure in the system is included inside the valve. Pre-set to a particular head pressure level, the valve usually operates within a specified range depending on the type of refrigerant used in the system. The valve automatically modifies its internal passage according to the variation between the setpoint and the detected pressure.

Customer Questions
What maintenance is required for the Sporlan Controls 903084 Head Pressure Control Valve?

Regularly inspect the valve for leaks, corrosion, or debris buildup in the system. Ensure proper refrigerant flow and check connections for tightness. Clean surrounding components to prevent contamination.

What are common issues with the Sporlan Controls 903084 Head Pressure Control Valve?

  • Inconsistent head pressure regulation.
  • Valve sticking or failing to open/close properly.
  • Internal blockage restricting refrigerant flow.
  • Reduced system efficiency due to improper pressure control.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Shut off system power and recover refrigerant.

Step 2: Verify flow direction, then position the control valve upright between discharge and receiver lines.

Step 3: Clean and deburr copper tubing; ensure ends are round and contamination-free.

Step 4: Braze connections with nitrogen purging to prevent oxidation inside the piping.

Step 5: Allow joints to cool, then pressure-test with dry nitrogen for leaks.

Step 6: Evacuate system, restore charge, power up, and confirm stable head pressure operation.
