The Emerson Flow Control (Alco) 056029 HFES Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV) has the function of metering the refrigerant flow in refrigeration and air conditioning applications. It uses a temperature-sensing bulb mounted on the evaporator for controlling the refrigerant flow depending on the evaporator’s temperature. When the evaporator is cooling, the pressure in the bulb reduces, bulb pressure rises and the TXV limits refrigerant flow. This dynamic control enhances system performance, particularly the heat exchange process and also avoids having liquid refrigerant get into the compressor since it has adverse effects.
