The Raypak 003898F is a slow-opening, three-quarter-inch natural gas solenoid valve made especially to be used with Raypak pool heaters. A solenoid, an electrically operated coil, is a feature of the valve. A magnetic field is produced when the solenoid energises in response to a signal from the heater's control system. A plunger or valve stem inside the valve interacts with the magnetic field to open the valve slowly and precisely at a predetermined rate. By reducing pressure surges in the gas line, this delayed opening function protects downstream components and facilitates smoother heater operation. When the valve is open, natural gas enters the pool heater's burner assembly, allowing for combustion and the production of heat.
