The Daikin-McQuay YRF26A Hot Water/Steam Coil is a heating system component that is primarily utilized in HVAC systems' air handling units Heat from steam or hot water is transferred to the air moving through the coil for it to work. The coil maximizes surface area for effective heat exchange by weaving copper tubes through aluminum fins. A fan within the AHU draws air over the fins while hot water or steam passes through the copper tubes. The air's temperature rises as a result of heat absorption from the hot fins. During the winter months, this heated air is subsequently pumped throughout the structure via tubes to provide warmth.
