The Lochinvar & A.O. Smith 100208382 6.20″ Water Column SPST Pressure Switch is used to protect your heating and air conditioning system. It includes the rate of water flow, which is important for the boiler or furnace to operate safely at a specified pressure. The switch is usually installed in the water column which is a vertical passage that links the boiler with the heating system. It has a diaphragm which changes with the pressure of water. When the pressure gets lower than expected, the diaphragm pushes the switch, and thus the burner switches off.
