Trane COM10210 Scroll Compressor is a powerful contender for large cooling for mid to large commercial applications. A permanently enclosed and self-contained unit (hermetic) usually made of cast iron. Unlike standard piston compressors, this Trane unit has a scroll mechanism to guarantee the better performance. Two intertwined scrolls located in the closed housing function as a supersonic compressor, compressing the refrigerant gas. This design provides a large 4-ton capacity (approximately 49,000 BTUH) to accommodate large cooling loads. The Trane COM10210 employs R-410A refrigerant which is better for the environment than previous options.
